ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
Join meditation teacher Joe Baker in a workshop all about Yoga Nidra. In this workshop Joe will discuss the benefits, science, and history of Yoga Nidra while offering you so much more. Yoga Nidra is a meditation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Through Yoga Nidra you can move into the state of conscious deep sleep while the mind is actually awake. Nidra is often translated as “sleep”, but it actually relates to the state of nothingness that occurs between waking in sleeping, or to dreamless sleep. That time of sleep when we are not aware of anything – not aware of ourselves, surroundings, thoughts, worries. This practice is extremely restorative for the physical, emotional and mental body. In Yoga Nidra, the practitioner is able to absorb ideas, suggestions and achieve desired changes in their life.
Joe will then guide you through a practice after learning all about Yoga Nidra. He will teach you how to properly lay in the optimal position providing you with blankets, bolsters and other props. Once you are settled, lying down, you will then be led through a practice to feel into your senses and scan through your body to achieve a sense of total relaxation. You may then be guided through other stages, such as watching your breath, moving your attention to different parts of the body, bringing thoughts of compassion to mind, or working on an idea that you wish to bring to fruition. If you’re looking for complete relaxation this is a workshop you won’t want to miss!
