TRIBAL INFUSION FLOW

A MEDITATIVE DANCE WORKSHOP
with Nikki Sheppard

This workshop is designed to help you connect with your body through gentle, rhythmic movement, mindfulness, and healing. In Tribal Infusion Flow, “tribal” refers to the sense of community we create together—a space where people come to move, release, and heal through dance. Whether you’ve danced before or believe you “can’t dance,” this workshop invites you to let go of self-doubt, embrace the present moment, and have fun while moving in a way that feels natural to you. It’s not about how the movements look but how they feel—so give yourself permission to release, let go, and enjoy the flow!

This session offers a meditative focus through movement, allowing you to relax, express yourself, and experience a sense of well-being. You’ll engage in light exercise that’s easy on the body but powerful in promoting emotional release and healing.

What You Will Experience:

Opening Meditation & Intention Setting

The workshop will begin with a short meditation to help you center yourself. You’ll focus on your breath, allowing the mind to quiet and the body to relax. During this time, you’ll also set an intention for what you’d like to release—whether it’s stress, tension, or emotions that have been weighing you down. You’ll also reflect on the kind of energy or feeling you want to embrace (such as joy, peace, or strength) as you move through the session. This opening moment is your chance to connect with yourself and invite the energy of playfulness and flow into your movement, no matter how experienced or inexperienced you may feel in dance.

Warm-Up

You will begin with a gentle warm-up to prepare your body for movement. This includes breathwork and stretching to loosen the muscles and release any tension in the spine, hips, shoulders, and legs. You will also start connecting with the rhythm of your breath and your body’s natural pace, allowing yourself to ease into the flow and relax into the movement.

Main Dance Flow

  • Segment 1: Grounded Rhythmic Movements

We’ll begin with simple, rhythmic movements like footwork, gentle hip circles, and flowing arm movements that anyone can do. These basic movements allow you to stay connected to your breath and body while moving at your own pace. There’s no right or wrong way—just listen to how your body wants to move. Let the rhythm guide you, and feel the joy in these simple motions.

  • Segment 2: Flow Movements

As we move forward, you’ll experience more flowing movements, incorporating gentle arm waves, light spinal movements, and smooth footwork. This is where you can truly begin to express yourself. Remember, this isn’t about looking a certain way; it’s about moving in a way that feels good to you. Let go of any self-judgment, and have fun exploring how your body naturally moves in response to the music.

  • Segment 3: Gentle Release

This final portion of the dance flow will guide you through repetitive, soothing movements that encourage you to release any remaining tension. You are free to move in a way that feels natural to your body, allowing you to release built-up emotions or energy in a way that feels safe and comfortable.

Cool Down & Closing Meditation

  • Cool-Down Movement

After the main dance flow, you’ll transition into gentle, relaxing stretches to help your body wind down. This allows the energy to settle and prepares you for the closing meditation. You’ll focus on slow, deep breaths and light stretching to bring your body back to a state of calm.

  • Closing Meditation & Reflection

You’ll finish the session with a closing meditation, allowing you to reconnect with your intention and reflect on the energy you’ve cultivated throughout the workshop. Take a moment to appreciate your body for its ability to move, express, and release. You’ll be guided through deep breaths to center yourself and feel grounded, leaving the session with a sense of lightness and flow.

  • Reflection & Sharing

If you’d like, you’ll have an opportunity to share any thoughts or feelings that arose during the session (optional). This is a time to acknowledge the fun you had, the emotions you released, and the joy of simply allowing your body to move. You’ll be reminded that anyone can dance—it’s about embracing the moment, releasing judgment, and celebrating your unique expression.

What You Will Learn:

1. Mindful Movement & Intention Setting: You’ll learn how to set a personal intention that guides your movement practice, helping you focus on what you want to release and what energy you want to cultivate.

2. Connecting with Your Body: This workshop will help you reconnect with your body’s natural rhythm and flow, allowing you to move mindfully and with ease, no matter your experience level.

3. Releasing Tension Through Fun: You’ll explore how playful, rhythmic movement can help release physical tension and emotional stress, while also bringing more joy and lightness into your day.

4. Celebrating Self-Expression: You’ll learn that dance is not about perfection—it’s about self-expression. This workshop will encourage you to embrace your body’s unique movement and enjoy the flow of letting go.
