ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
Join yoga therapist, Jennifer Carrera for this healing and rejuvenating workshop. Rest, restore and relax with 90-minutes of restorative yoga and yoga nidra.
Restorative Yoga involves passive stretching, relying heavily on props, bringing you into a state of deep relaxation. In many yoga classes in the west, we practice vinyasa, where we transition from yoga pose to pose, moving with the breath to build heat in the body. Restorative yoga is aimed at finding stillness and relaxation, exploring the softer side of yoga. The shapes will be held anywhere from 3-10 minutes so the muscles can completely relax and the nervous system can be eased. If vinyasa is described as the sun, restorative yoga can be described as the moon - to experience introspection and tap into your inner wellspring of calm. We will spend about half the class engaging in restorative yoga, and the last half will be a relaxing yoga nidra practice.
Yoga Nidra is a meditation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental and emotional relaxation. This practice is done lying down and is a completely guided meditation. Through yoga nidra you can move into the state of conscious deep sleep while the mind is actually awake. This practice is extremely restorative for the body.
Leave feeling refreshed, relaxed and renewed. Having filled your cup, you will have an overflow to give to others for the remaining holiday season.
