Introduction to Insight Meditation (Vipassanā)
The Silent Meditation

This introductory workshop offers a clear and grounded entry point into Insight Meditation (Vipassanā), a practice that has been developed and refined over 2,500 years and is said to be transfered down from person to person from Buddha himself. This session is designed for those who are new to meditation, as well as for those looking to connect to a deeper and more meaningful practice.

This special workshop will be led by one of the very few formally trained Dharma teachers in Texas. Johnathan Woodside has decades of meditation practice and teaching experience that is like no other. His teachings are offered in a way that is accessible, experiential, and grounded in classical sources, while remaining relevant to modern life.

In this workshop, we will explore the foundations of Insight Meditation through direct experience. Drawing from the classical framework known as the Four Foundations of this practice, participants will be introduced to observing the body, feeling tone, states of mind, and the patterns that shape our experience.

Through guided meditation, practical instruction, and reflection, you will explore:

– What Insight Meditation is and how it functions in everyday life
– How to establish a simple and sustainable meditation practice
– The role of the breath as an anchor for attention
– How to relate skillfully to thoughts, emotions, and distractions
– The difference between doing and observing in meditation

This session emphasizes direct experience over theory. Rather than trying to control or change the mind, participants will be invited to observe it with curiosity and care, learning how awareness itself becomes the ground for insight.

Join us as we take this deep dive into the vastness of this ancient practice, the one that takes us all the way back to the original source!
